DATES ANNOUNCED: July 10 - 14, 2023
NOTE: We are also offering a half-day "Hoops and Loops" camp for K - 3rd on the same dates.
Huh, you say? Basketball and STEM/coding together in a camp? While it may seem like an odd combination, there are a surprising number of people passionate about both the game of basketball and the art of coding (especially in Silicon Valley)—and what better way to get our players excited about STEM than to mix some hoops in with their conditional loops? It’s an optional part of the week but we hope you’ll encourage your players to give it a try. We think they’ll love it.
"Hoops and Loops" is our only full-week, full-day camp of the summer. Designed for rising 3rd - 9th graders, campers will be in a competitive team setting for the entire week. During the first four days leading up to the final day of camp, teams will play full games and compete for seeding; work on developing the fundamental skills of passing, ball-handling and footwork; and improving their three level offense (finishing, close in shooting, outside shooting) at daily skills stations; learn team concepts of offense and defense; and practice in-game situations. Additional activities include a three point shootout, a hotshot tournament, a strong man competition, film and game analysis, guest speakers, a coach’s game, and more.
The week will culminate with “Championship Friday” with teams playing in a tournament and competing for all-camp awards. Players will receive optional homework that teaches in-game situations, “next play” mentality, and how to build resilience on and off the basketball court.
Every hour of the camp—as with every 4CITY program—will be guided by three principles: adhering to our 4C Philosophy, keeping all campers safe and feeling included, and HAVING FUN!
