2022-23 Divisional Leagues

We are excited for another season of our flagship Divisional Leagues for 3rd-8th grade boys and girls!

This season we will have four pre-season clinics over two weekends (10/29 - 10/30 and 11/5 - 11/6) to help players shake off the rust and improve their skills. These sessions are included with the season fees, and they are also how we will be evaluating players to form balanced teams. Players must attend at least two of these sessions (ideally 3 or 4) in order to be placed on a team or we may offer your spot to a player on the waitlist.

Players will be drafted onto teams the week of November 7th at which point they will be assigned one weeknight practice time and one Saturday practice time. Those practices start on November 12th. Given the large number of teams and scheduling complexity, players must practice with their assigned teams at their given time. Saturday practices are mandatory, while weeknight practices are optional but strongly encouraged.

All games are on Sundays, starting December 4th and going through our end-of-season tournament on February 11th and 12th. There are no practices Thanksgiving week and no games or practices between December 19th and January 3rd.

This season our coaches will be running four skills clinics. These pre-season clinics will be in the afternoons on Saturday 10/29, Sunday 10/30, and Sunday 11/6. Each division will have the same time slot at the same time each session. Exact times TBD (check back here).

Players will be assigned to teams (8-10 players) in each of our divisions: 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th, with separate leagues for boys and girls. Each team will have a parent head coach and assistant coach, plus a professional “master coach” for their age group. Coaches will "draft" players after the pre-season with the goal of creating fair and balanced teams. Teams will be formed during the pre-season and announced by November 9th.

Please note that we will be following all county and state COVID guidelines, which currently do NOT require players, coaches, refs and fans to be masked when indoors. As much as possible we will keep gym doors open for optimal airflow. We recommend that fans and coaches wear masks but will not be mandating it unless county guidelines change. We will still be limiting all practices to players and coaches in order to minimize density in the gyms.

All divisional games and practices will be held at one of the following Palo Alto gyms:
- JLS Middle School
- Fletcher Middle School
- Palo Alto High School
